Description
18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboard
Taking no prisoners with this painting. Loose is how I'm going to paint this time around, and loose it is – an hour's study. My original vision was similar, but with a wider angle and from, say, the first floor window across the boulevard. However, given the shape of the board, a wider angle would've meant I might have needed sky above the trees, which I didn't want. And then there's the limits of painting from imagination – I really didn't know if I could get the angle looking down without some sort of guide, and well, I wasn't confident I could make all that pavement interesting anyway, so I settled for my usual eye level view. This is also an unusual view for me in that it's flat. Usually I like my lines receding into the painting to draw the view in. This time it's just straight on into a wall.
