Autumn Rain by litka Autumn Rain by litka
12x16" 30x40cm acrylic on hardboard

Sometimes little things in a painting bug me and I change them, and others I don't. In this case I think the figures are a little too low (or too small?), but I like the way they came out, so I'll not mess with them and just live with them... I think.

I think this came out great! The figures are a bit on the small side in comparison to the tress, but maybe they're just really big trees!

Thank you. Lets just say they're really big trees so I can sleep at night... Sorry for taking so long to reply, but I've never recovered since you guys changed the comment page a year ago...

Thank you -- not many people do, but I think that's great as it means that it is at least a little bit different. (Sorry for taking so long to reply.)

I love this... It makes me imagine that I'm watching through a rainy window, maybe of a car or something.

Thank you. I don't wear my glasses unless I have to and paint as if I'm not wearing them... (Sorry -- I missed seeing a lot of the comments until today.)

This is beautiful! I love the reflections on the road, especially....

Glad you like the piece. Wet pavement allows me to use reflections to make it more than a featureless strip of greyness, so I use it all the time.

Once again, like looking out at the rain through water washed windows, sometimes images seem to blend like this when you look outside. Good Stuff Chuck!

I like the figures in this one, especially the lady in the red coat.

Did you intend for her to stand out? Just curious.

I think putting a spot of red into a painting is sometimes suggested to add interest, and in this case, I used red on that figure for that reason. However, I just happen to like the way the umbrella and brush stroke of red that does not quite cover the whole figure suggests movement, like a blurred figure on a very long exposure. That's just the way it turned out, of course, nothing I did on purpose.

It would have been a lot colder if I had stuck with the grey colors I started with, but I can never quite paint the more realistic greys of a rainy day...
