Passage to Northwind Close

This painting worked out pretty well in creating the mood I wanted. I am less happy with it's lines. I think one of my strong suits in art is the ability to construct a realistic scene without anything before me to work from: I have a system that gives me fairly realistic perspective. I made a lot of adjustments after I traced this, and I don't think I got the lines quite right in the end. Oh well. I do enjoy painters who can ignore perspective -- 'naive' style painting, but I find that I can't in my work...

UPDATE: Part of my problem with the lines of this painting was with the high wall along the right side of the passage. The nice thing about working with watercolor canvas is that I could easily scrub off half that wall and repaint the scene. I think this is a much improved painting (also a better photograph).
