The painting of the week. An old subject, done yet again. I set out to paint a city street in outline style, using green for the outline. (Just to get rid of some green paint that, in a moments of insanity, I've purchased over the years. Never buy green paint -- it is too pure. Green paint always looks exactly like what it is -- green paint. Good for painting a fence or an outdoor chair, but not for pictures. Buy another shade of yellow or blue or anything instead. But I've gotten off the track...) Anyways, I'd all the lines in and had started to fill in the spaces, when it quickly became evident that it wasn't likely to work. Tried painting the scene in several other ways, then tried another "square" picture, decided no, not again, and did this. I really should someday, as a joke, take a photo of each step in the process of producing my paintings -- like those artists who know what they're doing sometimes do. It would prove instructive, I'm sure.
