18x24" 45x60cm acrylic on hardboard

I was looking to paint a picture that just said "summer". I don't think I quite got there with this one.

UPDATE: This is the revised version -- (original is still on my blog, link on my home page) I adjusted the color of the foreground to eliminate must of the blues and changed the contour of the trees on the right and fiddled around with the sky a bit. Better than the original but still not quite it, and I don't think the scene would ever quite work for what I wanted to do.

I like this, though i think you should have used more restraint with the white dabs of
paint, it makes the scene look like theres snow on the ground and fields, instead of summer it looks like late fall or early winter? (I'm not from your neck of the woods so i
have to use my imagination) maybe more yellow/browns with some grey touches in the
ground and shadows, Its still nice tho if you think of it in a different season.

The white fields in the actual painting are a bit more subdued, but all those years of painting with watercolors have left their mark on me: I generally like a lot of light in my paintings, and if I have to have darker blue skies than my more usual white, the light has to come from somewhere else...

Watercolors are my fav painting medium, need to work with them more, I'm doing just that but using Drawing inks as well with my
upcomming tribute to Vampirella and her gal-pal Pantha.

hmmm... maybe some more hints of sunlight and warmth. The painting feels a little cool. The "white" areas I think are causing the problem and maybe having less prominent shadows. Everything has great energy, but just needs more warmth for that summer glow. :-)

I think you're right, the foreground is just too blue. I think I'll play around with the colors a bit, tomorrow.
